Adult dose
Use in adult men The recommended dose of this medicine is 10mg, taken with or without food before anticipated sexual activity. For patients in whom tadalafil 10mg does not provide a sufficient effect, 20 mg may be tried. This medicine may be taken at least 30 minutes before sexual activity. The maximum recommended dosing frequency is once daily. Long-term safety after extended daily administration has not been established, and because the effect of this medicine usually lasts for more than one day, continuous daily administration is strongly discouraged. [See sections 1. Warnings and 11.1) Pharmacodynamic Properties] Use in elderly men Dose adjustments are not required in elderly patients. Use in men with renal impairment No dose adjustment is required in patients with mild to moderate renal impairment. The maximum recommended dose in patients with severe renal impairment is 10mg. [See section 11.2) Pharmacokinetic Properties]. Use in men with hepatic impairment The recommended dose of this medicine is 10mg, taken with or without food before anticipated sexual activity. Since clinical data on the safety of this medicine in patients with severe hepatic impairment (Child-Pugh Class C) are limited, the physician should carefully assess the individual benefit/risk when prescribing it. There are no data on administering doses higher than 10mg to patients with hepatic impairment. [See sections 3. Use with caution in the following patients and 11.2) Pharmacokinetic Properties]. Use in men with diabetes No dose adjustment is required in patients with diabetes.

Precautions

This medication is for the treatment of erectile dysfunction; therefore, a doctor's diagnosis and cardiovascular evaluation are required before use. Sexual activity can place a burden on the heart, so those with heart disease should consult a doctor before using this medication. If an erection lasts longer than 4 hours, immediate medical assistance must be sought, as failure to do so may result in penile tissue damage or loss of erectile ability. Co-administration with nitrate medications or NO donors may cause dangerous drops in blood pressure, so these medications should be avoided before and after using this medication. Patients with cardiovascular diseases such as myocardial infarction, cardiac arrest, unstable angina, or stroke are prohibited from using this medication and especially those who have recently experienced such conditions should not use it. It should not be administered to patients with genetic retinal diseases or hypersensitivity, and co-administration with other erectile dysfunction treatments is not recommended. Patients with severe renal or hepatic impairment should use this medication cautiously, and caution is required due to the potential for hypotensive symptoms when used in conjunction with certain antihypertensive drugs. During treatment with this medication, side effects such as headaches, dyspepsia, back pain, muscle pain, flushing, limb pain, nasopharyngitis, upper respiratory infection, cough, diarrhea, gastroesophageal reflux disease, abdominal pain, dizziness, increased blood urea nitrogen, tachycardia, palpitations, pruritus, facial flushing, paresthesia, visual disturbances, dry mouth, facial swelling, vomiting, nausea, fatigue, neck stiffness, urethral pain, kidney pain, heartburn, drowsiness, anxiety, sleep disturbances, decreased hemoglobin, eye pain, and chest pain may occur, most of which are mild or moderate. Serious side effects such as cardiovascular abnormalities, visual impairment, hearing loss, prolonged erection, etc., have been reported, so if these symptoms appear, immediate consultation with a doctor is required. Be cautious, as drinking alcohol may exacerbate blood pressure reduction and dizziness. Pregnant women and children should not use this medication, and individuals should assess their reactions before driving or operating machinery.
