How it is given

Adult administration

1. Visualization of the vitreous during vitrectomy Inject 4 mL of saline or ocular perfusion fluid into 1 vial to achieve a concentration of 10 mg/mL of triamcinolone acetonide, and on use, 0.5–4 mg of triamcinolone acetonide (as 0.05–0.4 mL of suspension) is injected into the vitreous. Precautions

This medication is an injectable solution administered directly into the eye and is primarily used to treat ophthalmic conditions. The risk of cataracts and increased intraocular pressure may rise with re-administration, and the effectiveness may be lower than before, so it should be used with caution. It should not be administered to patients with a history of allergic reactions to its components, those with eye infections or suspected infections, patients with uncontrolled glaucoma, or those without a lens. Caution should be exercised when administering to patients with glaucoma, high intraocular pressure, cataracts, and those who have recently undergone eye surgery or laser treatment, due to the risk of infection. After administration, there is a risk of serious side effects such as increased intraocular pressure, worsening of cataracts, and endophthalmitis, so the patient’s condition should be closely monitored and any abnormal symptoms reported to a physician immediately. Blood glucose management is important in patients with diabetic macular edema, and careful observation is required as this medication can influence blood glucose control. Pregnant women or women of childbearing age, children, and the elderly should be especially cautious when administered this medication, as its safety in pregnant women has not been established. This drug is administered only intra-vitreally, must be used in a sterile condition, and the remaining solution from a vial should not be used for multiple patients but discarded instead. After administration, the eye should be regularly examined, and monitoring should continue until the drug is completely eliminated. Additionally, when used in conjunction with oral diabetic medications or insulin, the effectiveness may be reduced, so the patient's condition should be carefully observed.
