Supplementation of thioctic acid; treatment of toxic and noise-induced inner ear hearing loss and Leigh syndrome
Thioctic acid is used for the treatment of inner ear hearing loss caused by severe physical labor, subacute necrotizing encephalomyelitis such as Leigh syndrome, toxicity from drugs like streptomycin and gentamicin, and occupational noise-induced inner ear hearing loss. It is advisable to discontinue use if no effect is observed after approximately one month of administration. This helps improve the symptoms of these conditions.
Administer thioctic acid 10~25mg intravenously once daily in adults, as a general rule. The dose may be adjusted according to age and symptoms.
