For gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer: typically, administer 10 mg orally once a day. Depending on symptoms, can administer 20 mg orally once a day. This medication is used to treat ulcers in the stomach and duodenum, and to relieve symptoms of erosive or ulcerative gastroesophageal reflux disease. It is also effective for long-term maintenance therapy of gastroesophageal reflux disease and is used in combination with antibiotics to treat gastrointestinal ulcer patients infected with Helicobacter pylori. Additionally, it helps suppress excessive gastric acid secretion in patients with Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. This medication is utilized to improve various gastrointestinal disorders.

How to take

Adult dose

For gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer: typically, administer 10 mg orally once a day. Depending on symptoms, can administer 20 mg orally once a day. Treatment duration is up to 8 weeks for gastric ulcers and up to 6 weeks for duodenal ulcers. Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with specific allergic reactions. For example, it should not be administered to patients who are hypersensitive to this medication, its components, or to benzimidazole derivatives, or those who have previously experienced such reactions. Additionally, if there is an allergy to certain antibiotics used in the eradication of Helicobacter pylori, this medication should not be used. Patients with allergies to penicillin and macrolide antibiotics should exercise caution. Patients taking this medication who are also on specific heart-related medications, are pregnant, or breastfeeding should refrain from using it. Patients with impaired liver function, the elderly, and those with a history of drug allergies should use this medication cautiously. Caution is also advised for those allergic to specific colorants included in this medication. Discontinuation should occur immediately if allergic symptoms such as skin rash, hives, or itching occur during the use of this medication. Regular blood tests and liver function tests are necessary, and appropriate measures should be taken upon discovery of any abnormal signs by consulting a physician. This medication may cause various side effects including gastrointestinal disturbances, cardiovascular issues, neurological symptoms, and immediate notification to healthcare providers is essential if any symptoms arise. Long-term use may increase the risk of fractures, and electrolyte imbalances such as hypomagnesemia may occur, necessitating regular tests. This medication inhibits gastric acid secretion, which can increase the risk of certain bacterial infections, so patients should notify their physician if diarrhea persists. Hives, severe swelling (edema), chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, pallor, severe allergic reactions, severe rash with high fever, blisters, skin peeling, pain in oral/ocular mucosa, severe skin adverse reactions, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, asthma attacks, respiratory abnormalities accompanied by cough and fever, liver abnormalities (jaundice), yellowing of skin or eyes, extreme lethargy, sudden and severe headache.
