Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with inflammatory bowel disease. For example, patients with ulcerative colitis or Crohn's disease should not take this medication. Patients with intestinal obstruction syndrome or unexplained abdominal pain should also avoid using this medication. This medication contains lactose monohydrate and should not be used in patients with lactose intolerance or certain genetic problems. Patients with a history of small intestine or colon disease should use this medication with caution, and women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, as well as elderly individuals over 65 years, should adjust the dose or take it with caution. This medication contains the dye yellow #5, thus patients allergic to this component should be cautious. During administration, gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea, loose stools, or abdominal pain may occur. Special attention must be given as serious issues such as gastrointestinal bleeding, ulcers, and perforation may arise with prolonged use. Skin symptoms such as itching, rash, and eczema may commonly occur, and there may also be an increase in liver enzyme levels affecting liver function. When using this medication for a long time, it is essential to follow a doctor's instructions, and if severe diarrhea occurs, dehydration and electrolyte imbalance may occur, so you should stop taking it immediately and consult with a doctor. There is a risk of liver damage, so caution is needed when taking other medications that can burden the liver along with this one, and it is advisable to limit alcohol consumption. When taken with antacids containing calcium, magnesium, or aluminum, the absorption of this medication may be hindered, so it should be taken at least 2 hours apart. Taking it with diuretics may enhance the diuretic effect, leading to dehydration or hypokalemia, so caution is necessary. Additionally, when used with cardiac glycoside medications, the risk of arrhythmia may increase, requiring vigilance. It is preferable for pregnant or breastfeeding women not to take this medication due to reports of delayed bone formation in animal studies and the potential for some components to be transmitted through breast milk.
