This medicine helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases. It particularly reduces the risk of cardiovascular events such as myocardial infarction, stroke, vascular interventions, and angina in adults with risk factors for coronary heart disease and in patients with type 2 diabetes. For patients with existing coronary heart disease, it reduces the risk of myocardial infarction, stroke, vascular interventions, hospitalizations for congestive heart failure, and angina. Additionally, it helps patients with hyperlipidemia maintain a healthy lipid profile by reducing total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, Apo-B protein, and triglyceride levels while increasing HDL cholesterol levels. It is also effective as an adjunct to dietary therapy for familial hypercholesterolemia in children and adolescents, improving dangerous cholesterol levels. Therefore, this medication is used for the prevention of cardiovascular diseases and the treatment of hyperlipidemia.
