This medication is used for rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, tendinitis, acute gout, and dysmenorrhea. It also helps with bursitis, muscle damage (sprains, strains), pain due to trauma, postoperative pain, migraine, and pain after tooth extraction. It is primarily used to alleviate pain and inflammation associated with various joint and muscle disorders, contributing to the improvement of patients' daily lives. It is effective in restoring joint and muscle function and reducing pain. For these reasons, it is widely used for symptom relief of the aforementioned conditions.

How to take

Adult dose

1. Rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis Take 250–500 mg of naproxen orally twice a day (every 12 hours). 2. Acute gout Take an initial dose of 750 mg orally and continue with 250 mg every 8 hours until the attack subsides. 3. Skeletal muscle disorders, postoperative pain, pain after tooth extraction, dysmenorrhea, tendinitis, bursitis Take an initial dose of 500 mg of naproxen orally.

Precautions

Patients who regularly consume more than three glasses of alcohol daily should consult a physician or pharmacist before taking this medication. This medication can cause gastrointestinal bleeding, so caution is necessary. Individuals with cardiovascular diseases or risk factors are at higher risk of serious cardiovascular issues, such as myocardial infarction or stroke, when taking this medication. Thus, both patients and physicians should carefully monitor for cardiovascular symptoms. This medication can cause severe gastrointestinal adverse reactions, such as bleeding, ulcers, and perforation in the stomach or intestines, especially in the elderly, where the risk is higher. If gastrointestinal symptoms occur, immediate consultation with medical personnel is required. Patients with a history of peptic ulcer, severe blood disorders, liver impairment, heart failure, kidney diseases, or severe hypertension should not take this medication. Those allergic to this medication or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, asthmatic patients, and patients before and after coronary artery bypass surgery should also refrain from taking this medication. Patients with a history of peptic ulcers, bleeding tendencies, liver or kidney function impairment should take this medication with caution and consult with medical personnel. If severe allergic reactions, hematemesis, gastrointestinal bleeding, skin rashes, or difficulty breathing occur during use, discontinue use and consult a physician immediately. This medication requires regular blood tests and liver and kidney function tests with long-term use, and dosage adjustment or discontinuation may be necessary if abnormalities are found. This medication can mask symptoms of infections, so it should be used with caution along with appropriate antibiotic treatment when infection is suspected. Hypertension patients should monitor their blood pressure frequently as it may worsen with this medication. This medication should not be used during late pregnancy, and when used during the second and third trimesters, should be employed at the minimum dosage for the shortest duration as it may affect renal function in the fetus. Breastfeeding women should preferably avoid taking this medication. Children under 2 years of age have not established safety, so it is advisable to avoid use. Elderly individuals are at higher risk of gastrointestinal bleeding, so they should take the minimum effective dosage with caution. Interactions may occur if this medication is taken with other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or certain medicines, so it should be discussed with medical personnel. In case of overdose, symptoms such as drowsiness, dyspepsia, or vomiting may occur; immediate medical attention is needed. This medication should be stored out of reach of children, and transferring it to another container is not recommended for quality maintenance.
