Improvement of blood pressure control when monotherapy is insufficient for hypertension
This medication is used in patients with hypertension whose blood pressure control is insufficient with monotherapy.
The recommended dose of this medication is 50 mg of losartan potassium / 12.5 mg of hydrochlorothiazide taken once daily as 1 tablet. It is not advisable to exceed doses of 100 mg of losartan potassium / 25 mg of hydrochlorothiazide per day. Generally, maximum antihypertensive effect occurs around 3 weeks after starting treatment. This medication can be administered with other antihypertensive agents and can be taken regardless of meals. For monotherapy.
Since there is no experience with the use of this medication in children and adolescents, the losartan-hydrochlorothiazide combination is not administered to these groups.
This medication may pose serious risks to the fetus and newborn, especially during pregnancy; therefore, administration should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. This medication should not be used in patients with certain allergic reactions, severely impaired kidney or liver function, and in women who are pregnant or may become pregnant. Patients with health conditions such as hypotension, kidney problems, liver dysfunction, and electrolyte imbalance should use this medication with special caution. Blood pressure, kidney function, and electrolyte levels should be monitored regularly while using this medication to ensure there are no abnormalities. This medication can affect potassium levels; therefore, potassium supplements or potassium-rich foods should not be taken without consulting a doctor. This medication may cause skin sensitivity reactions and may increase the risk of skin cancer with sun exposure; therefore, care should be taken to protect the skin from sunlight. Symptoms such as dizziness or drowsiness may occur, so caution is required when driving or operating machinery. There may be interactions when this medication is taken with other drugs, so all medications being taken should be reported to the physician or pharmacist. Safety in children and adolescents has not been established, so it is recommended not to use this medication in these populations. Elderly patients may experience side effects more frequently, thus they should use this medication with greater caution. When storing this medication, keep it out of reach of children and store it in its original container to maintain its quality.
Hives, severe swelling (edema), chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, pallor, severe rash with high fever, blisters, skin peeling, pain in oral/eye mucosa, difficulty breathing or wheezing, asthma attacks, cough accompanied by fever and respiratory issues, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes), extreme lethargy, sudden and severe headache, thunderclap headache, seizures, confusion, vision changes, paralysis, urination changes
Abdominal pain, edema/swelling, palpitations, back pain, dizziness, cough, sinusitis, upper respiratory tract infection, weakness/fatigue, diarrhea, nausea, headache, bronchitis, pharyngitis, angioedema (swelling of the lips and eyelids, and facial rash), palm skin peeling, hemolysis, chest pain, facial swelling, fever, orthostatic hypotension, syncope, angina, arrhythmia, cerebrovascular accident, hypotension, myocardial infarction, secondary AV block, loss of appetite, constipation, toothache, oral dryness

This medication should be stored in a tightly sealed container that is protected from light, at room temperature between 1 and 30 degrees Celsius. Proper storage will help maintain the effectiveness of the medication and prevent degradation.
