This medication is used for patients with essential hypertension whose blood pressure is not sufficiently controlled with amlodipine or valsartan monotherapy. It primarily helps to effectively lower blood pressure and reduce the risk of cardiovascular complications.

How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dose of this medication is 1 tablet once daily, taken with water regardless of meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time every day. In cases where blood pressure control is inadequate at dosages of 5/80 mg, 5/160 mg, or 10/160 mg, it should be increased gradually. For patients with mild to moderate renal impairment, no dosage adjustment is required, but it should not be administered to patients with severe renal impairment or those on dialysis.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn when taken during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, so it must be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Patients with hypersensitivity to any component of this medication, women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, patients with severe renal or hepatic impairment, and patients with certain heart conditions should not take this medication. Patients with sodium or fluid depletion, hyperkalemia, or renal artery stenosis require special caution while taking this medication, and blood pressure, kidney function, and potassium levels should be monitored frequently. Patients with heart failure or post-myocardial infarction should carefully monitor for changes in renal function while taking this medication, and acute myocardial infarction patients also require caution. This medication may cause various side effects, the common ones being headache, dizziness, edema, and fatigue. Rarely, angioedema or severe allergic reactions may occur. Dizziness or fatigue may occur while driving or operating machinery, so caution is advised, especially when starting treatment or changing the dosage. This medication may interact with other antihypertensive drugs, potassium supplements, diuretics, NSAIDs, etc., so you must consult a doctor or pharmacist if you are taking other medications. Women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant should not use this medication, and breastfeeding women should also avoid it. This medication is not recommended for children under 18 years of age, as its safety and efficacy have not been sufficiently established. In elderly patients, the same dosage as general adults is recommended, but careful observation based on physical condition is necessary. Overdosage may lead to symptoms such as dizziness, severe hypotension, and tachycardia; therefore, it is crucial to adhere to the prescribed dose and seek immediate medical attention if unusual symptoms occur.

Hives, severe swelling (edema), angioedema, chest tightness, difficulty breathing, cold sweat, paleness, severe rash with high fever, blisters, skin peeling, pain in oral/ocular mucosa, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, asthma attacks, cough with fever accompanied by respiratory abnormalities, yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), extreme malaise, sudden and very severe headache, thunderclap headache, seizures, altered consciousness, visual disturbances.
