Epithelial disorders of the conjunctiva are diseases where damage occurs to the cornea and conjunctiva, which cover the surface of the eye. Endogenous diseases include Sjögren's syndrome, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, and dry eye syndrome, which cause dryness and inflammation of the eyes. Exogenous diseases may be due to surgical damage, drug side effects, trauma, or wearing contact lenses, which can result in damage to the conjunctival epithelium. This medication is used to treat epithelial disorders of the conjunctiva caused by these endogenous and exogenous factors.
