Improvement in blood pressure control for essential hypertension
This medication is used in patients with essential hypertension who have difficulty controlling blood pressure with monotherapy using amlodipine or olmesartan medoxomil. This hypertension treatment effectively lowers blood pressure, helping to reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases. It improves the health status of patients through safe and continuous blood pressure management.
This medication is taken once daily with water, regardless of meals. It is recommended, if possible, to take it at the same time each day (e.g., in the morning). The recommended dosages are as follows: - 5/20 milligrams: For patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with monotherapy using amlodipine 5 milligrams or olmesartan medoxomil 20 milligrams. - 10/20 milligrams: For patients not adequately controlled with olmesartan medoxomil 20 milligrams.
Safety and efficacy have not been established for pediatric patients under 18 years of age.

Patients with low blood pressure due to lack of fluids or salt should be closely monitored, as blood pressure may drop suddenly upon initial dosing, and appropriate action must be taken if hypotension occurs. Patients with certain heart diseases should exercise caution due to the potential for sudden vasodilation leading to severe hypotension. Patients with decreased liver function may experience slower metabolism of this medication, requiring caution during use. This medication may cause side effects such as dizziness, headache, hypotension, orthostatic hypotension, drowsiness, dyspepsia, nausea, edema, and palpitations; if symptoms are severe, consult a physician. This medication may interact with certain other drugs, so be sure to inform medical personnel of any other medications being taken. Especially, taking it with grapefruit juice can excessively enhance blood pressure-lowering effects and should be avoided. Women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant are recommended to switch to other proven safe treatments instead of this medication. Breastfeeding women should either stop breastfeeding or discontinue this medication as it may cause adverse reactions in the infant. Children under 18 years should not be recommended this medication due to the lack of established safety and efficacy. Elderly individuals should start at a lower dose considering the decline in liver, kidney, and heart function along with accompanying diseases.
