Efficacy & effects

Used as an artificial kidney dialysis solution for the treatment of chronic kidney failure

View approved original text

This dialysis solution is used in artificial kidney dialysis for patients with chronic kidney failure. When kidney function is impaired and the body cannot effectively remove waste and excess fluid, this solution helps purify the blood. It plays a role in regulating the patient's acid-base balance and improving electrolyte imbalances. It supports bodily functions during the dialysis process and contributes to an improved quality of life. Therefore, it is a crucial medication in the treatment of chronic kidney failure.

How it is given

Adult administration

Select the appropriate acidic solution for artificial kidney dialysis based on the patient's condition and the type of artificial kidney machine used, and dilute with this solution and purified water.

Precautions

This drug should be used with caution in patients with severe liver dysfunction or serious diabetes. Such patients may experience symptoms like hypotension due to improper metabolism of the drug in the body. Patients taking digoxin should be particularly careful as low serum potassium levels can increase the risk of drug toxicity. If serum calcium and phosphorus levels are high before dialysis, this drug can cause abnormal calcification in the body. Patients with insufficient calorie intake or those with diabetes must manage their blood sugar levels closely as hypoglycemic symptoms may arise. Hypoglycemia or hyperglycemia may occur during or after dialysis, so patients should carefully monitor blood sugar changes and seek immediate treatment if necessary. If hypercalcemia is suspected due to elevated blood calcium levels, measures such as switching to a dialysis solution with lower calcium concentration are necessary. Bone-related complications such as osteoporosis, osteomalacia, and fibrous osteitis may occur, so regular necessary examinations should be conducted and vitamin D3 supplements taken. Symptoms of dialysis disequilibrium syndrome, such as headache, nausea, vomiting, cramps, and altered consciousness may occur, requiring adjustment of dialysis intensity ( This drug may affect the cardiovascular system, leading to sudden hypotension or shock symptoms; if these symptoms occur, dialysis should be stopped or adjusted, and necessary treatment should be performed. The safety of this drug during pregnancy has not been established, so pregnant women or those who may become pregnant should weigh the benefits and risks of treatment carefully. Safety has also not been established for pediatric use, necessitating caution. Elderly patients are at risk of bone complications, so regular clinical examinations and appropriate management, such as administration of vitamin D3, are needed. This drug should only be used after thoroughly checking the condition of dialysis dilution water and dialysis membranes, and the specified methods and concentrations must be adhered to during preparation. The dialysis solution must be used immediately after mixing, and it should not be used if insoluble substances form. It should not be used for injection or peritoneal lavage, and it is important to adjust the temperature to body temperature during use.
