This medication is used for the treatment of gastric ulcers and improves lesions such as erosions, bleeding, redness, and swelling occurring in the gastric mucosa. It is especially effective during acute exacerbations of acute gastritis or chronic gastritis. It helps heal damage to the gastric mucosa and alleviates symptoms. Therefore, this drug is used for the treatment and symptom improvement of gastrointestinal diseases.

How to take

Adult dose

Administer 100 mg of rebamipide orally three times a day. However, in cases of gastric ulcer, administer in the morning, evening, and before bedtime.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients who have previously shown allergic reactions to its components. During the use of this medication, serious allergic reactions such as shock or anaphylaxis may occur rarely, so if symptoms appear, administration should be immediately discontinued and appropriate treatment should be sought. Additionally, since leukocyte or platelet counts may decrease, periodic blood tests should be performed to monitor the condition. Liver function may be impaired and jaundice may appear, thus observation of symptoms should be conducted along with liver function tests. If hypersensitivity reactions such as skin rash, urticaria, or itching occur, the medication should be discontinued. Neurological symptoms such as dizziness, drowsiness, or paralysis may occur, so caution should be exercised when driving or operating machinery. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as dry mouth, constipation, abdominal distension, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, heartburn, abdominal pain, belching, and taste disturbances may also occur. If liver enzyme levels rise significantly or if fever and rash occur, the medication should be discontinued and a physician consulted. Regular blood tests are necessary because leukopenia or thrombocytopenia may be observed. Other symptoms such as breast tenderness, gynecomastia, palpitations, fever, flushing, tongue paralysis, cough, shortness of breath, hair loss, menstrual irregularities, and edema may also occur. Pregnant women or women who may become pregnant should use this medication only if the benefits outweigh the risks, as it may not be safe. If breastfeeding, it is advisable to avoid this medication as it may be excreted in breast milk. Caution is required for children, especially low-birth-weight infants, neonates, and infants, as safety has not been adequately established. Elderly patients may have decreased physiological functions and may be more sensitive to adverse effects such as gastrointestinal symptoms, so attention should be paid to symptoms. This medication should be stored in a safe place out of reach of children, and transferring it to another container should be avoided as it may lead to accidents or degradation of quality.
