This medication is used for the treatment of gastric ulcers and duodenal ulcers. It is also effective in alleviating symptoms of erosive or ulcerative gastroesophageal reflux disease. It can be used for the long-term maintenance treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease. In patients with gastrointestinal ulcers infected with Helicobacter pylori, it is used in combination with antibiotics to enhance treatment efficacy. Rarely, it is also used for the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. In general, it helps improve ulcers in the stomach and duodenum and related gastrointestinal diseases.

How to take

Adult dose

Gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer: 10 mg orally once a day, and depending on symptoms, it may be taken as 20 mg orally once a day. Erosive or ulcerative gastroesophageal reflux disease: 10 mg or 20 mg should be taken once daily for 4 to 8 weeks. If not resolved after 8 weeks, an additional 8 weeks of 10 mg or 20 mg taken twice daily orally may be considered (20 mg twice daily for severe cases).

Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with certain allergic reactions or hypersensitivity to certain antibiotics.
