Precautions

This medication is primarily an antidepressant used for the treatment of depression. When taking this medication, there may be an increase in suicidal thoughts or behavior, particularly in young patients aged 18 to 24, who require strict monitoring by a physician. This medication is not approved for use in children and adolescents and should not be administered to them. About one-third of patients may experience persistent erections; in this case, the medication should be immediately discontinued and the physician consulted. Patients with a known allergy to this medication or its components, those taking MAO inhibitors for the treatment of specific mental illnesses, patients under 18, acute myocardial infarction patients, patients with alcohol or sedative addiction, those taking certain medications (such as Saquinavir), and lactose-intolerant patients should not take this medication. Patients with heart disease, glaucoma, seizure disorders, bipolar disorder, a predisposition to psychosis, the elderly, patients with high impulsivity, a history of suicidal impulses, hyperthyroidism, or renal and liver dysfunction should use this medication cautiously and consult a physician as necessary. Serious side effects such as movement paralysis, severe muscle rigidity, and high fever may occur while taking this medication, and medical attention should be sought immediately if these symptoms appear. Additionally, various side effects including blood disorders, allergic reactions, low blood pressure, psychiatric symptoms, digestive issues, and liver function abnormalities may occur, so caution is advised. This medication may cause drowsiness or decreased concentration, so driving or operating hazardous machinery should be avoided. If fever or signs of infection persist while taking this medication, blood tests should be conducted, and immediate medical attention should be sought for any suicidal thoughts or behavioral changes. Taking this medication with other serotonin-acting drugs may lead to severe serotonin syndrome, so it is crucial to consult with a physician before combining treatments. Abruptly stopping this medication may lead to withdrawal symptoms such as headaches, anxiety, and sleep disturbances, so it is important to taper off gradually. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should consult a physician before taking this medication; when breastfeeding, it is best to avoid taking the medication or to stop breastfeeding. Elderly patients should be cautious and adjust dosages due to decreased physiological functions. In cases of overdose, symptoms may include drowsiness, vomiting, heart irregularities, seizures, and immediate medical treatment should be sought. This medication should be kept out of reach of children, and it is safer not to transfer it to other containers.
