Treatment of male pattern hair loss
This medication is used for the treatment of male pattern hair loss, particularly in adult males aged between 18 and 41 years, specifically androgenetic alopecia. Male pattern hair loss occurs due to genetic factors and hormonal changes, and this medication helps to slow the progression of hair loss and promote hair growth. With consistent use, it can increase the hair density in balding areas and prevent worsening of hair loss. Therefore, this medication is effective in improving the hair health of those concerned about hair loss.
Typically, 1 mg of Finasteride is administered orally once a day, regardless of meals. Generally, it may take more than 3 months of use to see therapeutic effects, and it is recommended to continue taking it to maintain therapeutic effects. Treatment duration and efficacy should be continuously evaluated. If treatment is discontinued, therapeutic effects will fade within 12 months.
This medication should not be used by children or women. In particular, pregnant women or women who may become pregnant should not handle broken pieces of this medication, as exposure via the skin can pose risks to male fetuses. Reports of psychological side effects, such as mood changes or depression, have been observed; if such symptoms appear, the medication should be discontinued and a doctor consulted. Pregnant women should absolutely avoid this medication as it may adversely affect the development of the male fetus's reproductive organs. Those with allergies to this medication or its components, or those with lactose intolerance, soybean oil, or peanut allergies should not take it. Patients with impaired liver function or issues with fat metabolism should use this medication with caution. This medication may cause sexual side effects such as decreased libido, erectile dysfunction, and ejaculatory disorders, but most of these resolve after discontinuation of the medication. Long-term use may lead to gynecomastia or breast tenderness in some patients, and a connection with male breast cancer has also been reported. If lumps, pain, or discharge occur in the breast while taking this medication, a doctor should be notified immediately. Ejaculatory volume may decrease, but this often does not significantly affect normal sexual function. This medication can lower prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels in blood tests, so care should be taken in interpreting test results. There is no specific antidote for overdose, but serious side effects may occur, so it is important to visit a healthcare facility immediately. This medication should be kept out of reach of children and not stored in other containers.
