Precautions

This medication is used for the treatment of Alzheimer's type dementia symptoms with its active ingredient, Donepezil Hydrochloride. First, this medication should not be administered to patients who are allergic to Donepezil Hydrochloride or other components of this medication. Also, it is advisable not to use it in women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, and in women who are breastfeeding. Patients with heart disease or cardiac conduction disorders should use this medication cautiously, as it may slow heart rate or induce arrhythmia. Patients taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or with a history of peptic ulcers should be careful due to the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding or ulcer exacerbation. Patients with a history of asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease should also be cautious as symptoms may worsen due to bronchoconstriction and increased mucus secretion. Patients with extrapyramidal disorders such as Parkinson's disease should be administered with caution due to the risk of symptom exacerbation. This medication may cause various side effects such as dizziness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, insomnia, muscle pain, cardiac abnormalities, liver dysfunction, and rashes. In severe cases, symptoms such as fainting, heart block, heart failure, cerebrovascular disorders, rhabdomyolysis, acute pancreatitis, and acute renal failure may occur, so any unusual symptoms should be discussed with a physician immediately. Furthermore, this medication may interact with other drugs, so caution is required, especially with drugs affecting CYP3A4 or CYP2D6 enzymes, cardiac-related medications, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, and anticholinergic drugs. Caution is also necessary when driving or operating machinery as this medication may induce dizziness or drowsiness, and this is especially important during the initial dosing or when increasing the dosage. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should preferably not take this medication unless necessary, and usage should be discussed with a healthcare professional. It is not used in children as safety has not been established. In case of overdose, symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, bradycardia, hypotension, respiratory depression, and convulsions, requiring immediate hospital treatment. This medication is to be dissolved in the mouth and is advised to be taken without water. During storage, it should be kept in a tightly sealed container, protected from air, moisture, and light. The storage temperature should ideally be between 1 and 30 degrees Celsius. This helps maintain the drug's effectiveness over time.
