This medication is used to clean the intestines before X-ray or colonoscopy and is also used as a pre-treatment during surgery.

How to take

Adult dose

Take 1 packet of the prepared solution before 8 AM on the day before the examination. After 6-8 hours, take an additional packet of the prepared solution.

Child dose

Ages 1-2 years: take 1/4 packet in the morning and 1/4 packet in the afternoon on the day before the examination. Ages 2-4 years: take 1/2 packet in the morning and 1/2 packet in the afternoon on the day before the examination. Ages 4-9 years: take 1 packet in the morning on the day before the examination.

Precautions

This medication contains the artificial sweetener aspartame, which breaks down into phenylalanine in the body. Therefore, it should not be used by patients with the genetic condition phenylketonuria. Additionally, individuals with allergies to this medication or its components, patients with congestive heart failure, or those with ulcers or inflammation in the gastrointestinal tract and several other specific conditions should not take this medication. Patients who have recently undergone gastrointestinal surgery or have kidney disease, heart disease, or inflammatory bowel disease should use this medication with caution. In particular, those taking medications that may affect water or electrolyte balance should be careful. Various side effects such as headache, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and skin rashes may occur when using this medication, so if symptoms are severe, consult a doctor immediately. To avoid fluid and electrolyte imbalances, do not use for extended periods, and it is advisable not to exceed 24 hours of use. This medication may affect the absorption of other oral medications, so caution is needed, especially for those taking anticonvulsants, contraceptives, diabetes medications, and antibiotics. The safety of this medication during pregnancy has not been established, and reproductive toxicity has been observed in animal studies; therefore, it is preferable to avoid use during pregnancy. In case of overdose, severe diarrhea may occur, necessitating adequate fluid intake and appropriate treatment. This medication should be taken after being dissolved in hot water and cooled to a suitable temperature for drinking. Opened packets should be used immediately, and any remaining contents should be discarded. Finally, it is important to keep this medication out of reach of children and to store it in its original container to protect it from moisture.
