How to take

Adult dose

Usually, taking 2 tablets orally, twice a day in the morning and before bedtime, regardless of meals. 1) Gastric and duodenal ulcers: Take 2 tablets twice a day or take 4 tablets once a day before bedtime. Particularly for patients with duodenal ulcers, take 4 tablets twice a day in the morning and before bedtime. 2) Gastroesophageal reflux disease: Take 2 tablets, twice a day for 8 weeks, or take 4 tablets once a day before bedtime.

Precautions

This medication should not be administered to patients with poor kidney function or those undergoing dialysis. Additionally, patients who have experienced allergic reactions to this medication or its components should not use it. Patients who have had acute porphyria, a rare blood disorder, should also not be given this medication. It is not recommended for patients who have undergone upper gastrointestinal surgery, pregnant women or those who may become pregnant, premature infants or newborns, and patients who need to restrict potassium intake. Patients with diminished liver function, a history of drug allergies, the elderly, and those who have had kidney issues should use this medication with increased caution. Particular care is necessary when taking NSAIDs concurrently; elderly patients with a history of peptic ulcer disease require regular examinations. This medication may obscure symptoms of gastric cancer, so gastric ulcer patients or those over middle age presenting new dyspeptic symptoms should verify malignancy before treatment. For patients with gastric or duodenal ulcers who test positive for Helicobacter pylori, treatment to eliminate the bacterium is necessary. Severely critically ill patients, patients with hypophosphatemia, and those with swallowing difficulties should exercise caution when using this medication. While taking this medication, allergic reactions such as skin rash, hives, and difficulty breathing may rarely occur; if these symptoms occur, discontinue use immediately and seek medical attention. Blood tests may reveal reductions in white blood cells or platelets, so testing should be conducted if symptoms arise. Symptoms of liver dysfunction have also been reported rarely, so if jaundice or liver dysfunction is suspected, discontinue the drug use immediately. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as irregular heartbeats, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea may occur. CNS symptoms such as dizziness, drowsiness, confusion, and seizures may also occur rarely, so caution is needed. If muscle pain or joint pain presents, consult with a physician as well. Long-term use should be avoided, and if there is no therapeutic effect, alternative medication should be considered. Regular monitoring of blood, liver, and kidney functions is important. If dizziness or drowsiness occurs during treatment, avoid driving or operating dangerous machinery. There may be interactions when taken with other medications, so especially if taking anticoagulants or specific antibiotics or anticonvulsants, discuss with a physician or pharmacist. It is safest for pregnant or lactating women to avoid using this medication. Safety for pediatric use has not been established, so it is advisable not to use it. In cases of overdose, appropriate emergency treatment such as vomiting or gastric lavage is required, and blood dialysis may be needed if necessary. This medication reduces gastric acid secretion, which can promote bacterial growth in the stomach, so long-term use may require additional tests, including ophthalmologic evaluations.
