Treatment of depression
This medication is used to alleviate symptoms of depression and improve mood.
Adults: As with other antidepressants, treatment should continue for at least 4 weeks. Administer 100㎎ per dose 3 times daily. Initially, administer 100㎎ per dose twice daily, and, depending on the clinical response, increase to 100㎎ per dose 3 times daily after at least 4 days. General administration: It is important to minimize the risk of seizures. During dose increases, do not increase the total daily dose by more than 100㎎ in 3 days. During gradual dose escalation, it is important to monitor for and minimize the frequent occurrence of agitation, ataxia, and insomnia early in treatment. If necessary, these may be managed with a temporary dose reduction or temporary administration of an intermediate- or long-acting sedative-hypnotic. A sedative-hypnotic is not needed during the first week of treatment; insomnia can be minimized by avoiding administration at bedtime. If adverse effects occur, stop increasing the dose. Do not exceed 150mg per dose. Administer 3 times daily at intervals of at least 6 hours. When administering more than 300mg daily: If there is no clinical response after treatment with 300mg daily for several weeks, the dose may be increased to a maximum of 450mg daily, up to 150mg per dose. To ensure that no single dose exceeds 150mg, administer 100mg per dose 4 times daily at 4-hour intervals. Discontinue this medicine if an adequate response is not achieved with 450mg daily. Maintenance therapy: The lowest dose is recommended. The duration of treatment is unknown, but is generally considered to be several months or longer, as needed for acute treatment of depression.
This medication is primarily used for the treatment of depression. When taking this medication, there is an increased risk of suicidal thoughts or behavior, so young patients, particularly those aged 18 to 24, should be monitored closely. Additionally, this medication should not be taken in conjunction with other medications that contain the same ingredient. This medication has the potential to induce seizures, and dosage should be adjusted, as it should not be administered to patients with a history of seizures. Patients with poor liver function or cirrhosis should reduce the dosage and use this medication with caution. During treatment, side effects may include agitation, insomnia, headache, nausea, constipation, etc. If there are changes in psychiatric symptoms or suicidal tendencies, consult a physician immediately. Women who are pregnant or nursing should discuss the use of this medication with their doctor before starting, and it is advisable to avoid using it while nursing if possible. Elderly patients or those with reduced kidney function may also require dose adjustment. Overdosage can lead to serious side effects, so it is crucial to adhere strictly to the prescribed dosage. Additionally, this medication can interact with other drugs, so if you are taking other medications, you should inform your doctor or pharmacist.
