(Hypertension, cardiovascular disease risk) reduction and (hypercholesterolemia) improvement effect
This medication is used for patients who need to take telmisartan and rosuvastatin simultaneously. Telmisartan primarily treats essential hypertension and reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease. It particularly helps to lower the risk of myocardial infarction, stroke, and cardiovascular disease-related death in high-risk patients aged 55 years and older. Rosuvastatin is primarily used as an adjunct therapy when dietary management and exercise are insufficient to control hypercholesterolemia and mixed dyslipidemia. It also reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease and delays the progression of atherosclerosis, thereby reducing the risk of stroke and myocardial infarction. Therefore, this medication is used for the treatment of high-risk cardiovascular patients with hypertension and dyslipidemia.
Telmisartan: For essential hypertension in adults, an oral dose of 40 mg once daily is recommended, and depending on the patient, 20 mg once daily may also be effective. It can be increased to up to 80 mg once daily if necessary. For reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease, an oral dose of 80 mg once daily is recommended. Patients with liver impairment should not exceed 40 mg once daily. Rosuvastatin Calcium: For primary hypercholesterolemia
This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn if taken during pregnancy; therefore, it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Patients who are allergic to this medication or have severe liver or kidney dysfunction should not take it. Patients with moderate liver or kidney impairment, the elderly, and those with high potassium levels should be particularly cautious when taking this medication and should have regular blood tests. If symptoms of muscle pain or weakness occur, consult a physician immediately, and in severe cases, the use of this medication should be discontinued. This medication may affect liver function; hence, regular liver function tests should be performed, and if any abnormal symptoms appear in the liver, consult a physician immediately. When combining with other antihypertensive or lipid-lowering medications, the risk of side effects may be increased due to interactions; therefore, it should be taken according to a physician's instructions. This medication may cause dizziness or drowsiness when driving or operating machinery, so caution is required. Safety and efficacy in children have not been established, and women of childbearing potential should use appropriate contraceptive methods. In case of overdose, hypotension, dizziness, renal dysfunction, etc., may occur, so immediate medical attention should be sought.
