This medication is used for the treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and men.

How to take

Adult dose

1 bottle (70 mg of alendronate) once a week in the morning at least 30 minutes before consuming food, beverages, or other medications. Take at least 30 mL or more of water following. After taking, one should not lie down for at least 30 minutes and until after the first food intake. This medication should not be taken before bedtime or upon waking. If a dose is missed, take 1 bottle of 70 mg the next morning.

Precautions

This medication can irritate the gastrointestinal mucosa, which may lead to problems such as esophagitis or esophageal ulcers, so it must be taken with a sufficient amount of water after ingestion, and one should not lie down for a certain period of time afterwards. It is advisable not to use this medication in patients who have esophageal problems or dysphagia, or who are hypersensitive to this drug. Patients with an allergy to the yellow No. 5 component included in this medication should use it with caution. While taking this drug, gastrointestinal symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, dyspepsia, constipation, and diarrhea may occur, and musculoskeletal pain, headache, and dizziness have also been reported. During pregnancy, there is a potential risk to the fetus, so it should only be administered under a doctor's judgment, and safety for nursing mothers and children has not been established.
