This medication is used to effectively control blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension who have difficulty controlling their blood pressure with monotherapy using amlodipine or valsartan.

How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dosage for adults is 1 tablet once daily, taken with water regardless of meals. It is advised to take it at the same time each day (e.g., morning). For patients with renal impairment, no dosage adjustment is required for mild to moderate impairment; however, it should not be administered to patients with severe renal impairment or those on dialysis. For patients with hepatic impairment, the daily dosage of valsartan should not exceed 80 mg for patients with mild to moderate hepatic impairment.

Child dose

Safety and efficacy have not been established for pediatric patients under 18 years of age; therefore, the administration of this medication is not recommended.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm or even death to the fetus and newborn if taken during the second or third trimesters of pregnancy; therefore, it must be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Patients with allergies to the ingredients of this medication or to similar classes of medications, women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, and patients with severe renal or hepatic impairment should not take this medication. Patients with low sodium or fluid levels may experience hypotension, so it is important to carefully check conditions before taking the medication and to monitor blood pressure closely during treatment. Patients with high potassium levels or those taking potassium supplements should regularly monitor their potassium levels, and patients with renal issues or kidney transplant recipients should use this medication with caution. This medication can cause a serious side effect called angioedema, so if swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or difficulty breathing occurs, the medication should be discontinued immediately and medical attention should be sought. Patients with heart failure or myocardial infarction may be affected in their kidney function by taking this medication, so regular kidney function tests must be conducted. This medication can interact with other antihypertensive drugs, certain diuretics, potassium-sparing drugs, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs); therefore, it is important to inform your doctor or pharmacist of any other medications being taken. Caution should be taken as dizziness or fatigue may occur while driving or operating machinery. Standard dosages are recommended for the elderly, but kidney or liver function should be carefully monitored during treatment. Overdosing can lead to severe hypotension or cardiac problems, so it is vital to adhere to the prescribed dosage, and if an overdose is suspected, seek medical assistance immediately.
