Improvement of blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes
This medication is used to help control blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes. Alogliptin and pioglitazone work together to effectively improve blood glucose levels when used in conjunction with diet and exercise therapy. Therefore, this medication can assist in the treatment of individuals who have difficulty managing their blood sugar.
This medication is administered once daily without regard to meals. Do not split the tablets. The recommended starting dosage of this medication (Alogliptin/Pioglitazone) is as follows: - In cases where there is no prior experience with diabetes medication and sufficient blood sugar control is difficult with monotherapy: administer this medication 25 mg/15 mg - In cases where it is difficult to control blood sugar with metformin monotherapy: administer this medication 25 mg/15 mg - In cases where blood sugar control is not sufficient with pioglitazone monotherapy.
This medication may cause or worsen congestive heart failure in some patients with swelling or weakness of the heart. After starting treatment or increasing the dosage, carefully monitor for symptoms of heart failure such as sudden weight gain, shortness of breath, and swelling. If these symptoms occur, consult a healthcare professional immediately for appropriate treatment, and discontinue or reduce the dosage of this medication if necessary. Patients with heart failure or a history of heart failure should not use this medication. This medication may exacerbate heart failure by causing fluid retention, so patients with edema or heart issues should exercise particular caution. Additionally, this medication may increase the risk of bladder cancer, so inform a physician immediately if there is a history of bladder cancer or any abnormal symptoms in the bladder. Patients experiencing diabetic ketoacidosis, coma, severe infections, pre- and post-surgical patients, those with liver impairment or severe kidney impairment, pregnant women or women who may become pregnant, and those with hypersensitivity to this medication should not use it. This medication may cause ovulation in premenopausal women, increasing the risk of pregnancy, so appropriate contraception should be used. During treatment, be alert for symptoms of hypoglycemia, especially when taken with other blood sugar-lowering agents like insulin or sulfonylureas as the risk of hypoglycemia may be higher. If sudden severe joint pain, skin blisters, rashes, etc., occur while using this medication, consult a physician immediately. It is safe to avoid using this medication for pregnant or breastfeeding women. Elderly patients or those with impaired kidney function or poor nutritional status should use this medication with caution. This medication may interact with other drugs, so be sure to inform healthcare providers of any other medications being taken. Finally, this medication should be stored out of reach of children, in its original container.
