View approved original text

This medication helps maintain blood flow by inhibiting thrombus formation in diseases such as myocardial infarction, cerebral infarction, and unstable angina. It also effectively prevents thrombus formation following coronary artery bypass surgery or percutaneous coronary angioplasty. It reduces cardiovascular risk in high-risk patients, such as those with a family history of ischemic heart disease or those having multiple risk factors such as hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, obesity, and diabetes. This medication is helpful in lowering and managing the risk of cardiovascular diseases.

Precautions

This medication can cause gastrointestinal bleeding in individuals who regularly consume more than three alcoholic beverages a day, so it is essential to consult a physician or pharmacist. It should not be administered to patients with hypersensitivity to salicylates, those with a history of peptic ulcer, aspirin-induced asthma, hemophilia, severe liver dysfunction, severe kidney dysfunction, or severe heart failure. Additionally, it should be avoided in patients with a tendency to bleed, those taking high doses of methotrexate, and pregnant women in the third trimester. Patients with kidney dysfunction, cardiovascular circulation issues, liver dysfunction, blood abnormalities, bronchial asthma, those scheduled for surgery, children under 3 years of age, a history of allergies, elderly patients, and those on anticoagulants should use this medication cautiously. This medication can trigger severe allergic reactions such as shock or anaphylaxis, so if any unusual symptoms occur, discontinue use immediately and seek medical assistance. Severe rashes, exfoliative dermatitis, blood abnormalities, gastrointestinal pain or bleeding symptoms, dizziness, liver dysfunction, kidney dysfunction, and various other side effects can occur, so they should be monitored closely. In children under 14 years of age with chickenpox or influenza, this medication should only be administered cautiously when absolutely necessary due to the risk of Reye's syndrome. As a symptomatic relief treatment, regular blood tests and liver function tests are needed during long-term use, and dose adjustment or cessation may be considered as necessary. After administration, there may be symptoms of low body temperature, weakness, or cold extremities; thus, particularly the conditions of children with high fever or elderly patients and those with cachexia should be closely monitored. During the treatment of infectious diseases, infection may be masked, so it should be used cautiously in conjunction with appropriate antimicrobials. If this medication is taken within a week before surgery, the risk of bleeding may increase, so it should be communicated to the medical team at the planning stage. In cases of overdose, symptoms of toxicity such as hallucinations, seizures, coma, and respiratory failure may occur, warranting immediate treatment. This medication inhibits platelet aggregation and may raise the risk of bleeding; therefore, patients with a tendency to bleed should be cautious, particularly during or after surgery. Patients with gout should be aware that this medication can reduce uric acid excretion, potentially triggering gout attacks. There may be interactions when taken together with other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, so it should be taken only after consulting with a physician. During pregnancy, particularly in the third trimester, there can be adverse effects on both the fetus and the mother, and its use is prohibited; in the early and mid-pregnancy, it should only be administered at the minimum dose when absolutely necessary. Lactating mothers are advised to avoid this medication as it can be secreted in breast milk. Elderly patients are at higher risk of side effects, so they should start with a small amount and monitor their condition closely. For enteric-coated formulations, care should be taken not to damage the enteric coating, and they should not be taken together with alkaline agents or easily moistening preparations. Store out of reach of children, and keep medications in their original containers to prevent quality deterioration or misuse.
