Relief of diabetic polyneuropathy
This medication helps relieve symptoms related to diabetic polyneuropathy. It reduces pain and sensory abnormalities due to nerve damage, improving the patient's quality of life.
Adults: Take 600 milligrams of thioctic acid once daily with plenty of water, approximately 30 minutes before breakfast.
This medication contains alpha-lipoic acid, and should not be used in patients with an allergic reaction to this ingredient or any excipients included in the medication. Moreover, there is insufficient clinical experience regarding safety and efficacy in pediatric and adolescent populations, so it should not be administered to individuals in this age group. While taking this medication, digestive symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea may rarely occur. Allergic reactions such as skin rashes, hives, and itching may also occur occasionally, so caution is advised. This medication may lower blood sugar levels, which can produce hypoglycemic symptoms such as dizziness, sweating, headaches, and vision disturbances, hence blood sugar management is crucial. Additionally, taste disturbances have been reported rarely, which may affect the sense of taste. Individuals who frequently consume alcohol should avoid it to prevent potential reduction in the medication's effectiveness. This medication may diminish the effectiveness of the anticancer drug cisplatin, so caution is necessary when administering them together. When taken with iron, magnesium, or milk-containing products, this medication may not be well absorbed by the body, so dosage timing should be adjusted. When used with insulin or other diabetes medications, the hypoglycemic effect of this medication may be increased, necessitating regular blood sugar checks and dosage adjustments if needed. Pregnant or nursing women should consult a healthcare professional before use, as the safety of this medication during these periods has not been fully confirmed. In case of overdose, severe toxicity symptoms may occur, so it is essential to adhere to the prescribed dosage and seek immediate medical treatment if an overdose is suspected. This medication should not be stored at temperatures above 30 degrees Celsius and must be kept in a safe place out of the reach of children. Moreover, transferring the medication to a different container from the original may result in accidents or a decline in quality, so caution should be exercised.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This medication must be stored in a tightly sealed container to protect it from air and moisture exposure. It is also advisable to store it at room temperature between 1 and 30 degrees Celsius. This ensures the medication's efficacy is maintained for a longer period.
