Precautions

This medication is an eye drop that is used directly in the eyes, and should not be injected into the conjunctiva or anterior chamber of the eye. The active ingredient of this medication is a quinolone antibiotic, and when administered systemically, serious allergic reactions may occur. If any allergic symptoms arise, stop using it immediately and consult a specialist. It should not be administered to patients with hypersensitivity to moxifloxacin or other quinolone drugs or to infants under 1 year of age. Caution is necessary for pregnant or breastfeeding women when using this medication, and thorough review of its effects on the fetus or newborn is required. When used in the eyes, side effects such as conjunctivitis, dry eyes, congestion, and pain may occur, and in rare cases, severe allergic reactions or shock may develop, so symptoms should be carefully monitored. Long-term use may increase the risk of resistant strains and fungal infections, so it should only be used for the necessary minimum duration and medical advice should be sought promptly if symptoms worsen. Contact lens wearers should avoid wearing their lenses when experiencing symptoms of bacterial conjunctivitis, and care should be taken to avoid contaminating the tip of the container during use. It is advisable to space the use of this eye drop at least 5 minutes apart from other eye drops. The safety of this medication has not been established in children, especially infants under 1 year of age, and while no special differences exist for the elderly, caution is still necessary when using it. This medication is for ophthalmic use only, and should be stored in a sealed container to avoid exposure to direct sunlight and in a secure place out of the reach of children.
