Treatment and prevention of recurrence of gastroesophageal reflux disease (including erosive esophagitis), treatment and prevention of recurrence of Helicobacter pylori positive peptic ulcers, relief of gastrointestinal symptoms related to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
This medication is used for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease and erosive esophagitis, effective for long-term maintenance therapy to prevent recurrence in patients with esophagitis and for treating symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis. It is also used for the treatment of duodenal ulcers and peptic ulcers associated with Helicobacter pylori infection, as well as for the prevention of recurrence. Additionally, it helps relieve upper gastrointestinal symptoms that may arise during the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and treats gastric ulcers in patients requiring ongoing therapy with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, as well as preventing gastric ulcers and duodenal ulcers. It is also used for the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and maintenance therapy after prevention of rebleeding caused by gastric ulcer or duodenal ulcer. Therefore, it is effective in improving various gastrointestinal diseases and associated symptoms.
This medication should be swallowed with liquids such as water and should not be chewed or crushed. 1) Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) - Treatment of erosive esophagitis: 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks, extend for additional 4 weeks if not resolved. - Maintenance therapy for prevention of recurrence: 20 mg once daily. - Symptomatic treatment without esophagitis: 20 mg once daily, with further adjustments if symptoms improve.
Adolescents over 12 years - Treatment of erosive esophagitis: 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks, extend for an additional 4 weeks if not resolved. - Symptomatic treatment without esophagitis: 20 mg once daily.
This medication should not be administered to specific patients. Avoid use if there is an allergy to this medication or its components, or if there is a hypersensitivity to certain antibiotics. Also, patients taking certain heart-related medications or with a history of myocardial infarction, as well as nursing mothers, should not take this medication. Various side effects may occur with this medication. Common gastrointestinal symptoms include headache, abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting; rarer symptoms may include blood abnormalities, skin rashes, and liver function abnormalities. Occasionally, mental instability, dizziness, and blurred vision may also occur, so caution is needed. If this medication is used for a long period, regular health checks should be conducted, particularly if taken for over one year, including blood tests for magnesium levels. This medication may suppress gastric acid secretion and increase the risk of gastrointestinal bacterial infections, so if diarrhea persists, immediate consultation with a healthcare provider is necessary. This medication can interact with other drugs, so if taking other medications, it is essential to inform your physician or pharmacist. Caution is especially needed when taking with medications affecting blood coagulation, antiviral drugs, or certain antibiotics. Women who are pregnant or nursing should consult a physician before taking this medication, as its safety has not been sufficiently confirmed. There is no specific antidote for overdose; treatment should be based on symptoms, and appropriate care should be sought from a hospital if necessary. Keep this medication out of reach of children and do not transfer it to another container.
Urticaria, angioedema, anaphylaxis, shock, severe allergic reactions with high fever, severe rashes, blisters, skin peeling, oral/ocular mucosal pain, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis, drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS syndrome), hepatitis with or without jaundice, hepatic failure, sudden and severe headache, thunderclap headache, seizures, unconsciousness.
Headache, dizziness, sensory disturbances, drowsiness, taste disorders, blurred vision, bronchospasm, abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, abdominal distension, nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, stomatitis, gastrointestinal candidiasis, increased liver enzymes, hepatitis, dermatitis, itching, rash, hair loss, photosensitivity, fractures, arthralgia, myalgia, muscle weakness, interstitial nephritis, gynecomastia, asthenia, increased sweating, Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea, allergic reactions, thoracic pain, chest pain.

This medication should be stored in a tightly closed container to prevent air or moisture from entering, and must be kept at room temperature between 1°C and 30°C. Proper storage helps maintain its effectiveness.
