This medication is used for painful muscle spasms associated with musculoskeletal disorders, such as shoulder-hand syndrome, adhesive capsulitis, and low back pain. It is also effective for treating spastic paralysis caused by neurological disorders. This includes various central nervous system diseases such as cerebrovascular disorders, spastic spinal cord paralysis, cervical spondylosis, postoperative sequelae (including brain and spinal tumors), post-traumatic sequelae (spinal cord injuries, head trauma), amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, cerebral palsy, spinocerebellar degeneration, spinal vascular disorders, subacute spinal cord neuropathy, and others. This medication alleviates pain and stiffness in these various conditions, improving the patient's quality of life.

How to take

Adult dose

Administer 50 mg of Eperisone Hydrochloride orally three times a day after meals. Adjust according to age and symptoms.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. First, it should not be administered to patients who have had allergic reactions to this drug or to those with myasthenia gravis. Additionally, patients with galactose intolerance due to genetic problems, Lapp lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption should also refrain from taking this medication. This drug should be used cautiously in patients with a history of drug hypersensitivity or liver dysfunction, as it may exacerbate liver function. While taking this medication, rare side effects such as shock, liver dysfunction, kidney dysfunction, and anemia may occur, so symptoms should be closely monitored. Various side effects such as skin rashes, itching, insomnia, drowsiness, headaches, gastrointestinal discomfort, urinary retention may arise, and if any unusual symptoms appear, immediate consultation with a doctor is recommended. In particular, if serious skin reactions such as toxic epidermal necrolysis syndrome or Stevens-Johnson syndrome occur, treatment should be stopped immediately, and appropriate care should be received. During treatment with this drug, weakness, dizziness, and drowsiness may occur; thus, drug dosage should be reduced or discontinued if these symptoms arise. Due to drowsiness or decreased attention, it is advisable to avoid driving or operating hazardous machinery. Caution is necessary when using this medication in combination with similar drugs or specific muscle relaxants, as it may lead to visual disturbances. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should only use this drug when the benefits outweigh the risks, as its safety has not been established. Nursing mothers should preferably avoid this medication, and if it must be taken, cessation of breastfeeding is recommended. Safety in pediatric patients has not been adequately established, so caution should be exercised when administering it to children. Elderly patients may have reduced physical function, necessitating dosage adjustments and careful monitoring.
