Treatment for controlling primary hypertension
This medication is used for patients with primary hypertension who have difficulty controlling blood pressure with telmisartan alone. It effectively controls blood pressure, reducing the risk of complications associated with hypertension and improving health status.
For patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with telmisartan alone, this medication should be taken once daily with water, regardless of meals. It is recommended to adjust each component's dosage separately for individual patients before switching to this fixed-dose medication. When clinically appropriate, direct switching from monotherapy to this combination may also be considered. - Telmisartan/Hydrochlorothiazide 40/12.5mg can be administered to patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with 40mg of telmisartan. - Telmisartan/Hydrochlorothiazide 80/12.5mg can be administered to patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with 80mg of telmisartan. - Telmisartan/Hydrochlorothiazide 80/25mg may be given to patients whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with a combination of 80mg of telmisartan and 12.5mg of hydrochlorothiazide. Before starting this medication, sodium or blood volume depletion should be corrected.
The safety and efficacy of this medication have not been established in children under 18 years of age.
This medication should not be taken during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, as it can cause serious harm to the fetus. Individuals allergic to the ingredients in this medication or those with certain liver or kidney diseases should not take it. Patients with specific health conditions such as elderly individuals, those with hyperkalemia, or hepatic impairment should take this medication with caution and follow the doctor's guidance. While taking this medication, symptoms such as dizziness, hypotension, and electrolyte imbalance may occur, so if any symptoms arise, consult a doctor immediately. While taking this medication, caution is needed when driving or operating machinery, as dizziness or drowsiness might occur. This medication may cause sensitivity to sunlight, so UV exposure should be avoided, and proper skin protection is necessary while taking it.
