Treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (erosive esophagitis, recurrence prevention), eradication of Helicobacter pylori (duodenal ulcers, recurrence prevention), relief of upper gastrointestinal symptoms related to NSAIDs, treatment and prevention of NSAID-related gastric ulcers, treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, prevention of rebleeding from gastric ulcers and duodenal ulcers, and maintenance effect.
This medicine is used for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease, as well as for long-term maintenance therapy to prevent recurrence in patients with erosive reflux esophagitis. It is also effective for the eradication of Helicobacter pylori in patients with duodenal ulcers and peptic ulcers. It is used for the short-term treatment of gastrointestinal symptoms related to the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and for the treatment and prevention of gastric ulcers and duodenal ulcers induced by these medications. Additionally, it applies to the treatment of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and the maintenance therapy for the prevention of rebleeding from gastric ulcers or duodenal ulcers. It is a medication that helps in the treatment and prevention of various symptoms associated with several gastrointestinal disorders.
This medication should be taken whole with liquids such as water and must not be chewed or crushed. 1. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) - Treatment of erosive reflux esophagitis: 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks. - If esophagitis is unresolved or symptoms persist, continue for 4 more weeks. - Long-term maintenance therapy to prevent recurrence in patients with esophagitis: 20 mg once daily. - In case of unresolved esophagitis in patients without it: Continue monitoring.
Adolescents aged 12 years and older 1. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) - Treatment of erosive reflux esophagitis: 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks. - If esophagitis is unresolved or symptoms persist: extend for 4 weeks.
This medication should not be administered to certain patients. For instance, patients with allergies to this drug or its components, or those who have experienced hypersensitivity reactions to benzimidazole-type drugs should not use it. Additionally, when used in conjunction with certain antibiotics such as amoxicillin or clarithromycin for the eradication of Helicobacter pylori, patients who are allergic to those antibiotics should not take this medication. Patients taking certain heart-related medications or with a history of myocardial infarction, as well as breastfeeding women, should also refrain from using this drug. This medication can cause various adverse reactions, with common ones including headache, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, while rarer severe side effects have also been reported, including blood abnormalities, allergic reactions, hypomagnesemia, liver dysfunction, and skin rashes. Regular check-ups are essential for monitoring adverse reactions, especially during long-term use. This medication suppresses gastric acid secretion, which may increase bacterial growth in the stomach, raising the risk of infections and increasing the risk of fractures during prolonged use. Furthermore, there is a high possibility of drug interactions with this medication, particularly with anticoagulants, anticonvulsants, antidepressants, and antiviral drugs, thus caution is necessary when used together. Safety data regarding its use during pregnancy is limited, thus it should be administered cautiously to pregnant women, and it's recommended that breastfeeding women do not take this medication. In cases of overdose, there is no specific antidote, so symptomatic treatment is required, and this drug cannot be removed by dialysis. Finally, this medication should be kept out of the reach of children; transferring it to other containers may lead to quality degradation or accidents, so care should be taken.

This medication may be sensitive to air or humidity, so it must be stored in a tightly sealed container. The recommended storage temperature is between 1 degree and 30 degrees Celsius to maintain the drug's effectiveness for a longer period.
