Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm or death to the fetus and neonate if taken during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy; therefore, discontinuation should occur immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. It should not be used in patients with allergic reactions to this medication, severe liver impairment, severe aortic stenosis, biliary obstruction, patients on hemodialysis, those in a state of shock, or certain diabetic patients. Patients with fluid or salt depletion may experience hypotension, thus careful monitoring of their condition is required at the initiation of treatment, and appropriate measures should be taken as necessary. Care is needed particularly in patients with aortic stenosis as rapid vasodilation could lead to hypotension. Patients with heart failure or severe obstructive coronary artery disease may experience worsening heart conditions when taking this medication and should use it with caution. Patients with impaired renal function may be affected by this medication, necessitating regular monitoring of kidney function. Patients with liver impairment should also use this medication cautiously and observe liver function closely. During treatment with this medication, side effects such as dizziness, headache, hypotension, edema, and dyspepsia may occur, so if any abnormal symptoms arise, consultation with healthcare professionals is required. This medication should be avoided during pregnancy, and if breastfeeding, consideration should be given to discontinuing either breastfeeding or the medication due to potential transmission through breast milk, which could impact the infant. Safety and efficacy for pediatric patients under the age of 18 have not been established and is therefore not recommended. Elderly patients may be more sensitive to this medication due to reduced renal and liver function, and treatment should start at lower doses with careful dosage adjustments. Overdose may result in severe hypotension, vasodilation, tachycardia, and may require immediate medical attention. This medication should be stored in a tightly sealed container away from moisture, heat, and direct sunlight, out of reach of children. Additionally, there may be interactions with other medications, so it is imperative to inform healthcare professionals of all other medications being taken.
