View approved original text

This medication is an absorbable hemostatic agent used to stop local bleeding, especially during surgery when bleeding occurs from capillaries, veins, or small arteries. It effectively prevents bleeding when hemostasis is difficult using other methods. Therefore, it is a product that assists in managing bleeding during surgery.

How to use

Adult use

Cut to an appropriate size and firmly adhere it to the bleeding area or tissue surface until hemostasis occurs.

Precautions

This drug should not be used to fill or pack wound areas. It should not be used in cases of bone injury or major arterial bleeding, nor for areas where non-bleeding serous fluid is produced or in cases of adhesion prevention. Caution is required when using this product around the bone cavity or near nerves during spinal surgery, as it may swell and increase pressure, causing nerve damage or paralysis; therefore, it must be removed after hemostasis is achieved. Care should be taken to avoid using it on contaminated wounds and suturing, as complications may arise. In urological surgeries, it should be used minimally and handled carefully to prevent blockage of the urethra or ureters. In otolaryngological surgeries, care should be taken to prevent the patient from inhaling this medication. Using this drug may lead to the formation of a film in body fluids or rejection reactions to foreign substances. When used to wrap blood vessels during vascular surgeries, there is a risk of narrowing the vessels; caution is needed. If drainage or urination is required after surgery, this drug may delay excretion, so observation is necessary. Symptoms such as a burning sensation, pain, and sneezing may occur when used for epistaxis control or intranasal applications due to the drug's low acidity. Pain may also occur after polypectomy or hemorrhoid surgery. This drug is provided in a sterile state and should not be re-sterilized as it may be damaged; do not attempt to re-sterilize before use. Any remaining product after opening cannot be re-sterilized and should be discarded. It should not replace sutures in precision surgery and is best not mixed with other drugs such as antibiotics or hemostatic agents. It is acceptable to leave this drug in the treatment area, but it is preferable to remove it after hemostasis. Care is especially needed during spinal or skull fracture surgeries, as the position may shift during surgery. This drug has broad-spectrum antibacterial effects but cannot replace systemic antibiotics for infection prevention after surgery. In dental surgeries, it should be applied loosely and should not be used to fill empty spaces. Additionally, moistening this drug with water or saline may reduce its effectiveness, so it is recommended to use it dry.
