Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with skin infections. Especially in cases of bacterial, fungal, viral, or animal-related skin infections, symptoms may worsen. Additionally, patients who have an allergy or hypersensitivity to this medication or its components should not use it. It should also not be administered to patients with eardrum perforation, ulceration or severe burns, perioral dermatitis, or common acne and rosacea. Patients with perianal or genital itching, as well as children under the age of 2, should also avoid using this medication. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, nursing mothers, children, and the elderly should use this medication with caution. Caution is also needed in patients with a history of allergy to the propylene glycol component included in this medication. Side effects may include skin infections, skin irritation, rashes, itching, skin dryness, pustular dermatitis, and other various skin symptoms. Long-term usage may lead to skin atrophy, pigmentation changes, and steroid-induced acne. There may also be suppression of pituitary and adrenal cortex function, so caution is necessary with extensive or prolonged use. The use around the eyes should be approached carefully due to the risk of increased intraocular pressure and glaucoma. This medication should not be used for eczema or dermatitis accompanied by a skin infection and, if unavoidable, should be used together with appropriate antibacterial or antifungal agents. When using this medication extensively or with occlusive dressings, regular checks on serum cortisol levels must be conducted to monitor for side effects. It is advisable to discontinue use as soon as symptoms improve. Pregnant women should avoid using high doses or for prolonged periods due to the lack of established safety, and nursing mothers should use it cautiously. Children are at greater risk for side effects than adults, so it should not be used continuously for more than 3 weeks, and special care should be taken in areas similar to occlusive dressings, such as diaper-wearing areas. Elderly individuals may also experience side effects more easily, thus observation is necessary when using high doses or for prolonged periods. This medication is not for ophthalmic use and should not be applied for therapeutic purposes other than after cosmetics or shaving. Occlusive dressings should be used under medical supervision, and the affected area should be cleaned before use. Keep out of reach of children, and although long-term tests of this medication for carcinogenicity or genotoxicity have not been conducted, no mutagenic hazards have been reported to date.
