How to take

Adult dose

For essential hypertension, orally administer 150 mg of Irbesartan once daily; if the effect is not sufficient, it can be increased to 300 mg. Generally, the blood pressure control effect over 24 hours is better when 150 mg is administered than when 75 mg is given once daily; however, in special cases (initial treatment, hemodialysis patients, or elderly patients over 75 years), 75 mg may be considered.

Precautions

This medication should not be used during pregnancy. It may cause serious harm to the fetus and newborn, so it should be discontinued immediately if pregnancy is confirmed. Patients with an allergy to this medicine, severe liver impairment, hereditary angioedema, or women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not take this medicine. Additionally, this medication should not be used in patients with diabetes or severe kidney dysfunction, or diabetic nephropathy who are on ACE inhibitors. Patients who are elderly or have high serum potassium levels or impaired liver function should use this medication cautiously, and liver or kidney function should be monitored periodically. Patients with heart valve disease or cerebrovascular disease should also be cautious when taking this medication due to the risk of excessively low blood pressure. This medicine lowers blood pressure, so if there is low blood volume or sodium deficiency, symptoms of hypotension may occur; therefore, it is important to check the condition before taking this medication. Regular monitoring of blood pressure, kidney function, and electrolyte levels is important while taking this medication. If symptoms such as swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or difficulty breathing occur during treatment, it is essential to consult a doctor immediately. Side effects may include dizziness, fatigue, headache, dyspepsia, diarrhea, but most are mild and temporary. This medication may interact with other blood pressure medications, diuretics, and potassium supplements, so it is essential to consult with a doctor or pharmacist regarding other medications being taken. Particular caution is needed when taking this with lithium or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Additionally, some diabetes medications may affect blood sugar control when taken concurrently, so it is important to monitor blood sugar levels. This medication is not recommended for breastfeeding women; if it must be taken, breastfeeding should be discontinued. Overdosage may cause hypotension or heart rhythm abnormalities, so taking the correct dosage is important, and any unusual symptoms should be reported to medical personnel immediately. Safety in children or adolescents has not been established, so it's best not to use it. Caution is needed when driving or operating machinery as dizziness or fatigue may occur.
