This medication is used for various wounds that carry a risk of infection, such as abrasions, cuts, lacerations, and burns. It is also effective in treating chronic wounds such as leg ulcers and pressure sores. It can assist with skin infections like secondary infected eczema or chronic simplex dermatitis (neurodermatitis). It is used for treating nipple cracks and skin damage that occur during breastfeeding or post-surgical wounds after minor operations. Overall, this medication helps in the recovery from various wounds and skin infections and is useful in preventing infections.

Dosage and Administration

Adult dosage

After cleansing the wound or infected skin area, apply a thin layer as needed 1 to several times a day. The wound can be treated in the usual manner, either covered with a dressing after application or left uncovered.

Precautions

This medication contains chlorhexidine, which can cause hearing loss or nerve damage if used directly in vital areas such as the brain, spinal cord, or the inner ear.
