Precautions

This medication should not be administered to patients who are allergic to this medication or its components or have previously experienced an allergic reaction. It should also not be used in patients for whom gastrointestinal stimulation may be harmful, such as those with gastrointestinal bleeding, mechanical obstruction, or perforation. This medication contains lactose, so patients with inherited disorders such as galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption should not take it. While using this medication, patients should be closely monitored for serious allergic reactions, such as shock or anaphylaxis. If symptoms such as a drop in blood pressure, difficulty breathing, laryngeal edema, hives, pallor, or excessive sweating occur, administration should be stopped immediately, and appropriate treatment should be sought. Liver dysfunction or jaundice may occur, so liver function tests should be conducted, and if abnormalities are found, medication should be discontinued. Gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain, and increased salivation may occur; if these symptoms persist, it is advisable to consult a healthcare professional. Neurologic side effects such as headache, anxiety, sleep disturbances, or dizziness may occur, and caution is required if these symptoms are severe. Endocrine abnormalities such as gynecomastia or increased prolactin levels may occur, so if abnormal symptoms are observed, administration should be stopped. Blood tests may show thrombocytopenia or leukopenia, so regular blood tests should be performed to monitor the condition. Renal function may be affected, leading to increased BUN and creatinine levels, so renal function should also be monitored. Liver enzyme levels may rise, so attention should be paid to liver health, and if adverse reactions occur, medication use should be stopped. Rarely, hypersensitivity reactions such as skin rashes, erythema, or itching may occur, and if these symptoms arise, immediate consultation with a healthcare professional is necessary. Extrapyramidal symptoms such as hand tremors may occur, so if these symptoms arise, administration should be stopped. Symptoms such as chest or back pain and fatigue have also been reported, so any changes in physical condition should be observed closely. This medication enhances the action of acetylcholine, so this should be considered when using it, and long-term use should not be continued if gastrointestinal symptoms do not improve. When taken with anticholinergics, the effect of this medication may be decreased, so care should be taken to adjust the dosing intervals. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should carefully weigh the risks and benefits before taking this medication, and nursing mothers should avoid taking it or discontinue breastfeeding. Safety for children has not been sufficiently established, so caution is necessary when using it in this population. Elderly patients may have decreased bodily function, making them more susceptible to adverse reactions; therefore, it is important to closely monitor symptoms and adjust the dosage if necessary. This medication should be kept out of reach of children, and transferring it to another container should be avoided to prevent accidental risks and quality degradation.
