How to take

Adult dose

Risedronate Sodium: 150 mg once monthly taken orally. This medication should be taken at least 30 minutes before the first intake of any food or beverage other than water during the day. It should be taken with a sufficient amount of pure water (170 to 230 mL) while upright. Do not chew or suck on the tablet, and remain upright for at least 30 minutes after consumption. Precautions

This medication may irritate the stomach and esophagus, so patients with esophageal diseases or those with gastritis, duodenitis, ulcers, etc., should be particularly cautious when taking it. If symptoms such as difficulty swallowing, pain while swallowing, chest pain, or heartburn occur during treatment, discontinue use immediately and consult a doctor. After taking this medication, it is important to remain upright for at least 30 minutes and to take it with plenty of water. If there are any symptoms of esophageal irritation after taking, do not continue use. Patients with esophageal stricture, hypocalcemia, severe renal impairment, or women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not use this medication. Patients with lactose intolerance should also avoid this medication. Patients with Barrett's esophagus or gastrointestinal diseases and those allergic to Yellow No. 5 should take caution when using this medication. It is important to ensure adequate intake of calcium and vitamin D while taking this medication, and the intake of medications or foods containing calcium, magnesium, iron, etc., may interfere with absorption, so dosage timings should be spaced out. If undergoing dental surgery or if there are poor oral conditions, there is a risk of osteonecrosis of the jaw, so consult a doctor before treatment. This medication may rarely cause side effects such as thigh fractures or bone pain with long-term use, so any abnormal symptoms should be reported to a doctor immediately. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, as well as nursing mothers, should not take this medication and should consult a doctor if necessary. Safety in children has not been established, so it is advisable not to use it in individuals under 18 years of age.
