Relief of functional dyspepsia symptoms (abdominal bloating, heartburn, nausea, etc.)
This medication helps relieve symptoms such as abdominal bloating, upper abdominal discomfort, heartburn, belching, nausea, and vomiting caused by functional dyspepsia. Taking this medication when experiencing such dyspeptic symptoms can help improve them. Therefore, it is used to reduce gastrointestinal discomfort in daily life.
Adults: Administer 25 mg of levosulpiride orally three times daily before meals.
This medication should not be used by women who are pregnant or may become pregnant, as well as those who are breastfeeding. It should also not be administered to patients with gastrointestinal bleeding, mechanical obstruction, or perforation. Patients who may develop hypertension due to tumors should not use this medication. Those with allergies or intolerances to this medication should refrain from taking it. Patients with liver disease, or in the manic phase of bipolar disorder, should avoid this medication. Caution is necessary for patients with breast-related diseases, as this medication may cause breast development disorders. Additionally, since this medication contains lactose, it should not be administered to patients with lactose intolerance or related genetic issues. Care should be taken when using this medication for hypertensive patients, children, and elderly patients, particularly ensuring that children do not receive overdoses. This medication may cause menstrual irregularities, hyperprolactinemia, and gynecomastia due to hormonal abnormalities. If any of these symptoms occur, discontinue use immediately. Additionally, rare neurological symptoms such as tremors, abnormal tongue movements, and anxiety may arise, and in such cases, the medication should also be stopped. Prolonged use may lead to involuntary movements around the face, which may persist even after discontinuation of the medication. Gastrointestinal issues such as dry mouth, heartburn, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and constipation may occur. Cardiovascular problems such as hypertension or arrhythmias may also need to be monitored. During use of this medication, although rare, a serious condition known as neuroleptic malignant syndrome may arise, presenting with symptoms like high fever, muscle rigidity, and altered consciousness, necessitating immediate withdrawal of the medication and hospital treatment. Other potential side effects include skin rashes or edema, flushing, fatigue, insomnia, drowsiness, dizziness, and erectile dysfunction; if any of these symptoms occur, consult a physician. It is advisable to avoid driving or operating machinery that requires attention while taking this medication. Moreover, when used with specific medications, the effectiveness of this drug may be diminished, or side effects may be exacerbated, so it is imperative to consult a physician or pharmacist if taking other medications. Particular caution should be exercised when taken alongside anticholinergics, analgesics, digitalis preparations, other neuroleptics, alcohol, and medications affecting the heart. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should not use this medication, and elderly patients should use it cautiously due to potential prolonged retention of the drug in the body resulting from decreased kidney function, adjusting dosage and intervals as necessary. Finally, as this medication has an antiemetic effect, it may mask or worsen vomiting symptoms due to other conditions, thus requiring careful observation during use.
Not everyone experiences these, and they can vary from person to person.
This medication is sensitive to air and moisture; it should be stored in a tightly sealed container. Additionally, it is best to keep the medication at room temperature, avoiding extreme heat or cold, ideally between 1 to 30 degrees Celsius.
