Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with hypersensitivity to alpha-lipoic acid. Additionally, there is no clinical experience with children and adolescents, so this medication should not be administered to children and adolescents. While taking this medication, gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea may occasionally occur, so care should be taken. Allergic reactions such as skin rash, hives, and itching may occur, and if any abnormal symptoms arise, immediate consultation with medical personnel should be sought. This medication can lower blood sugar, potentially leading to hypoglycemic symptoms such as dizziness, sweating, headaches, and visual disturbances; therefore, blood sugar control should be monitored. There may be rare abnormalities in taste perception, so report any persistent discomfort. Frequent alcohol consumption may reduce the efficacy of this medication, so patients with diabetic neuropathy are advised to avoid alcohol intake. This medication may reduce the effectiveness of the specific anticancer drug cisplatin, so care should be taken not to use them together. Taking this medication simultaneously with preparations containing iron, magnesium, calcium, or milk may reduce its efficacy, so a time interval should be maintained. This medication, when taken along with insulin or other diabetes medications, may increase the blood sugar-lowering effect, necessitating frequent blood sugar checks and possible adjustments in medication dosage. Its safety during pregnancy or lactation has not been fully established, so it should be used cautiously under a physician's guidance. In cases of suspected overdose, serious toxicity symptoms may occur; seek appropriate treatment immediately at a hospital. This medication should not be stored at temperatures above 30 degrees Celsius, and must be kept in a secure place out of reach of children, preferably not transferred to another container.
