Precautions

This medication should not be used by individuals who have had an allergic reaction to this drug or other piroxicam preparations. People who have experienced exacerbated asthma due to aspirin asthma or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs should avoid using this medication as it may cause severe asthma attacks. Individuals who have had allergic reactions like hives, nasal congestion, or angioedema after taking aspirin or other anti-inflammatory pain relievers should also refrain from using this drug. Children under 14 years of age should not use this medication. Those with allergies to soybean oil, soybeans, peanuts, etc. should avoid this drug. Patients with bronchial asthma should be particularly cautious when using this medication as asthma symptoms may worsen. Skin reactions such as itching, redness, rash, scaling, eczema, contact dermatitis, and erythema may occur, and in rare cases, photosensitivity may develop, so usage should be discontinued if these symptoms are severe. Long-term use or excessive application may lead to systemic side effects like nausea, gastrointestinal discomfort, shortness of breath, and worsening renal function. This medication does not treat the cause of inflammation or pain but helps alleviate symptoms, so it is important to understand this. If there is a skin infection, using this medication may obscure the infection, so it should be used in conjunction with antibiotics or antifungals and the patient's condition closely monitored. When using for chronic conditions like osteoarthritis, consider other treatment methods alongside medication therapy and be vigilant for side effects. During the last three months of pregnancy, this medication should not be used as it can cause delayed delivery, bleeding, fetal cardiopulmonary issues, and renal problems. During the first trimester of pregnancy, while animal studies have shown no harm to the fetus, safety in humans is not clearly established, so caution is advised. It is advisable not to use this medication while breastfeeding as its components may be excreted in small amounts in breast milk. There is no established safety for premature infants, newborns, and infants, so it should not be used in these children. Elderly individuals may experience side effects more readily, so it is recommended to use only the minimal necessary dosage while exercising caution. This medication should not be applied to areas with hemorrhagic diseases, eczema, infections, burns, or wounds. Avoid wrapping with a sealed bandage as skin damage may provoke irritation.
