Precautions

This medication should not be used in patients with viral keratitis or conjunctivitis, fungal eye diseases, mycobacterial infections, or chronic blepharitis. Additionally, patients with hypersensitivity to this drug should not receive it. Special caution is needed if the corneal epithelium is damaged or there is a corneal ulcer, as symptoms may worsen. Tuberculous or purulent ocular disease patients should also be cautious when using this drug due to the risk of corneal perforation. It is generally avoided in glaucoma patients and infants under 2 years old. Long-term use may increase the risk of elevated intraocular pressure, glaucoma, and optic nerve damage, thus regular intraocular pressure checks are needed. This drug can increase the risk of infections such as herpes simplex keratitis and fungal keratitis, so if any infection symptoms appear, appropriate treatment must be sought immediately. Rarely, side effects like corneal perforation or cataracts may occur. Long-term use can suppress immune responses, increasing the risk of secondary infections. In cases of acute purulent ocular infections, this drug may mask or worsen symptoms. If inflammation or pain in the eyes persists or worsens for more than 48 hours after administration, discontinue use immediately and consult a physician. Contact lens wearers must remove lenses before instillation and wait at least 30 minutes before re-wearing them. Temporary blurred vision may occur after instillation, so driving or operating hazardous machinery should be avoided. If infected with chickenpox or measles, this drug may be fatal, so it's crucial to verify the patient's medical history and vaccination status and seek medical attention if infection occurs. Children and patients taking CYP3A4 inhibitors may have a higher risk of systemic side effects following use. This drug may increase systemic exposure when used with CYP3A4 inhibitors, thus usage should adhere to a physician's instructions. Pregnant or potentially pregnant women should avoid long-term or frequent use, and breastfeeding mothers should discontinue breastfeeding while using this drug. Safety in children and adolescents has not been established, so caution is warranted. Elderly patients may have a higher risk of adverse effects due to diminished physiological function, requiring special attention. This medication is for ophthalmic use only, and care should be taken to avoid direct contact of the container tip with the eye. Shake the medication well before use and it is advisable to avoid sharing to prevent contamination. When storing, keep it out of the reach of children and store it in a cool place away from direct sunlight.
