This medication is used to appropriately maintain blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled by monotherapy with either amlodipine or valsartan.

How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dose of this medication is one tablet once daily, taken with water regardless of meals. It is recommended to take it at the same time each day (e.g., in the morning). If blood pressure is not controlled with individual components, switching to this medication can be considered. Patients with renal impairment or liver impairment may need dose adjustment based on their condition or may not be administered this medication. Elderly patients aged 65 and older should be cautious when increasing the dose.

Child dose

The safety and efficacy of this medication have not been established for pediatric patients under 18 years of age, and its use is not recommended.

Precautions

This medicine can cause serious harm to the fetus if taken during pregnancy, especially during the second and third trimesters, so it must be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Patients with hypersensitivity to this drug or with severe kidney or liver impairment, as well as women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not take this medication. For patients with low body sodium or fluids, the condition should be stabilized before administration of this drug, and blood pressure and symptoms should be carefully monitored during treatment. Patients with high potassium levels should be cautious when taking this drug with potassium supplements or medications that can increase potassium, and regular checks of blood potassium levels are recommended. Patients with renal abnormalities or those who have received a kidney transplant, those with a history of angioedema, congestive heart failure, or acute myocardial infarction should use this medication cautiously. Since this drug has antihypertensive effects, if symptoms of hypotension appear, the patient should be laid down, and if necessary, normal saline should be administered to stabilize blood pressure. Caution is required as dizziness or fatigue may occur during driving or operation of machinery. This drug may interact with other antihypertensive drugs, potassium-sparing diuretics, and NSAIDs, so patients must inform their healthcare provider of any other medications they are taking. It is safest for women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, as well as breastfeeding mothers, not to use this medication. The safety and efficacy of this drug have not been established for children under 18 years old, and its use is not recommended. Overdose may result in hypotension and heart-related problems; therefore, contact medical personnel immediately for appropriate treatment. If any abnormal symptoms or discomfort occur while taking this medication, consult a doctor or pharmacist immediately.
