View approved original text

This medication is used to manage essential hypertension, that is, high blood pressure. It is also effective in patients with heart failure whose heart function is impaired, particularly when there is left ventricular systolic dysfunction or reduced left ventricular ejection fraction. It is particularly suitable for patients who need to use an ACE inhibitor additionally or have poor tolerance to ACE inhibitors. Therefore, it helps stabilize blood pressure and improve symptoms of heart failure.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, so it should be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. It should not be used by pregnant or potentially pregnant women, breastfeeding women, patients with severe liver dysfunction or cholestasis, patients with hereditary angioedema, and those with certain genetic lactose intolerance. Elderly patients, patients with hyperkalemia, patients with mild to moderate liver dysfunction, patients with heart valve disease, and those with poor kidney function should use this medication with caution. Side effects such as dizziness, back pain, and respiratory infections may occur during treatment, and patients with heart failure are at risk of hypotension, hyperkalemia, and worsening kidney function, so regular blood tests should be conducted to monitor their condition. Caution should be exercised when taking potassium supplements or medications rich in potassium, as potassium levels in the blood may increase. Additionally, since this medication lowers blood pressure, caution is needed when driving or operating machinery due to the potential for dizziness or drowsiness. When used in combination with other antihypertensive medicines or diuretics, interactions may cause blood pressure to drop too low or affect kidney function, so it should be taken as directed by a physician. The safety and efficacy of this drug have not been established in children and adolescents, so it is advisable not to use it in individuals under 18 years of age. In the event of overdose, symptoms such as hypotension, dizziness, and rapid heartbeat may occur, and immediate contact with a healthcare professional is necessary for appropriate treatment. Finally, it should be kept out of the reach of children, and the medication should not be transferred to other containers for safety.
