This medication is used to effectively lower blood pressure in patients with essential hypertension where blood pressure is not sufficiently controlled with monotherapy of amlodipine or valsartan. It helps to reduce cardiovascular burden and risks of complications due to hypertension.

How to take

Adult dose

The recommended dose for adults is one tablet taken once daily, with or without food, preferably at the same time each day (e.g., in the morning).

Child dose

Safety and efficacy in pediatric patients under 18 years have not been established; therefore, the use of this medication is not recommended in this population.

Precautions

This medication can cause serious harm to the fetus or newborn if taken during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, so it must be discontinued immediately upon confirmation of pregnancy. Patients who are allergic to this medication, pregnant or breastfeeding women, patients with severe kidney or liver disease, and those who have a history of certain heart conditions or angioedema should not take this medication. Patients with low sodium or fluid levels in the body should correct their status before starting this medication and should closely monitor their blood pressure during treatment. Patients with high potassium levels or kidney issues should exercise caution when taking potassium supplements or medications that can increase potassium levels, and regular blood tests to check potassium levels are recommended. Patients who have received a kidney transplant or have symptoms of angioedema should avoid taking this medication, and if angioedema symptoms arise, it should be discontinued immediately. Patients with heart failure or those who have experienced a myocardial infarction should closely monitor kidney function and blood pressure while taking this medication. This medication is used to treat hypertension and can lower blood pressure excessively, so if symptoms of hypotension occur, the patient should lie down and receive parenteral fluids if necessary. Dizziness or fatigue may occur during treatment, so caution is advised when driving or operating machinery. There may be interactions with other antihypertensives, potassium-sparing diuretics, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), etc., so any medications being taken must be disclosed. Women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant should not take this medication, and breastfeeding women are also discouraged from using it. The safety and efficacy of this medication in children under 18 years have not been established, so its use is not recommended. In case of overdose, severe hypotension or cardiac-related problems may occur, so patients should be cautious not to exceed the prescribed dosage.
