How to apply drops

Adult eye dose

For mild to moderate infections, 1-2 drops should be instilled into the infected area every 4 hours. In cases of severe infection, 2 drops should be instilled every hour until symptoms improve, followed by a gradual reduction in dosage. Adjust according to age and symptoms.

Precautions

This medication is an aminoglycoside antibiotic used as eye drops for eye infections. First, this medication should not be used by anyone who has had an allergic reaction to it, other aminoglycoside antibiotics, or bacitracin. During use, symptoms such as itching, swelling, redness of the eyelids, conjunctivitis, and a burning sensation in the eyes may occur, so use should be stopped immediately if such symptoms arise. Additionally, occasionally, irritation or pain in the eye may be felt, so caution is warranted. When using this medicine, it is advisable to check the susceptibility of the infecting bacteria to prevent the development of resistant organisms, and to use it only for the necessary minimum duration. To reduce the possibility of allergic reactions or shock, thorough patient history and skin reaction tests are recommended prior to use. With long-term or repeated use, other bacteria may proliferate excessively, so if symptoms worsen, this medication should be stopped immediately and appropriate treatment should be obtained. This medication should not be used in combination with tetracycline drugs. Also, when used in combination with systemic aminoglycosides, serum levels should be monitored carefully. During treatment, it is recommended to avoid wearing contact lenses to prevent the spread of infection. After instillation, temporary blurring of vision may occur, so avoid driving or operating machinery until vision returns to normal. Using this medication with anticoagulants may increase the risk of bleeding, so blood tests should be conducted frequently and, if necessary, the dosage of the anticoagulant should be adjusted. Although no teratogenic effects have been reported in animal studies during pregnancy, it should only be used when absolutely necessary; if breastfeeding, caution should be taken as it may harm the infant, and nursing should be interrupted or used with careful consideration. In case of overdose, symptoms such as corneal inflammation, redness of the eyes, increased tearing, swelling, and itching may occur, and monitoring serum levels and possibly blood dialysis may be helpful. This medication should be used as eye drops only and should not be injected into the eye. Finally, some resistance of certain bacteria to this medication has been reported in the country, so caution is advised during use.
