This medication is used for the treatment of myocardial ischemia caused by hypertension and stable and variant angina. It is particularly effective in reducing the risk of hospitalization due to angina and the risks associated with coronary artery revascularization in patients with confirmed coronary artery disease by recent angiography, who do not have heart failure or have an ejection fraction greater than 40%. It helps improve cardiovascular health and alleviate angina symptoms.

How to take

Adult dose

Administer 5 mg orally once daily as amlodipine, and it can be increased to a maximum of 10 mg daily depending on the patient's response. Adjust according to age and symptoms.

Precautions

This medication should not be used in certain patients. For example, it should not be administered to individuals who are allergic to this medication or similar medications, women who are breastfeeding, patients with severe liver dysfunction, patients with severe aortic stenosis, and patients in shock. Additionally, caution should be exercised in patients with severe hypotension, patients requiring renal dialysis, elderly patients, and women who are pregnant or may become pregnant. While using this medication, symptoms such as facial flushing due to vascular dilation, fatigue, edema, palpitations, dizziness, headaches, drowsiness, abdominal pain, and nausea may occur. Rarely, various side effects such as hypotension, vasculitis, neurological abnormalities, gastrointestinal issues, liver function abnormalities, and skin reactions have been reported. Patients with heart failure or liver dysfunction require special caution, and since the blood pressure-lowering effect may slowly diminish after discontinuation of the medication, care should be taken when using other antihypertensive drugs simultaneously. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should only use this medication if its safety is established and it is recommended to discontinue breastfeeding. This medication can interact with several other medications, so consult with a doctor or pharmacist if you are taking other drugs. In particular, it is advisable to avoid taking it with grapefruit juice, as it may increase the blood pressure-lowering effect. In case of overdose, severe hypotension and shock can occur, requiring immediate medical attention, cardiovascular function monitoring, and appropriate emergency care. It is known not to significantly affect the ability to drive or operate machinery; however, caution is necessary if symptoms such as dizziness or drowsiness occur.
