Improvement of musculoskeletal pain-related muscle spasms and neurological spastic paralysis
This medication is effective for painful muscle spasms associated with musculoskeletal disorders, such as cervical spondylosis, periarthritis of the shoulder, and low back pain. It is also used to treat spastic paralysis caused by neurological disorders. This includes a variety of neurological issues such as cerebrovascular disorders, spastic spinal cord paralysis, cervical spondylosis, postoperative sequelae, and post-traumatic sequelae. It is helpful in various central nervous system disturbances such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, cerebral palsy, and cerebellar ataxia. It is utilized to alleviate symptoms of various musculoskeletal and neurological disorders.
As Eperisone Hydrochloride, the dosage is 50 mg per dose, taken orally 3 times a day after meals. The dosage may be adjusted as appropriate based on age and symptoms.
This medication should not be used in certain patients. First, individuals who are allergic to this drug should never take it. Additionally, patients with myasthenia gravis, a condition in which muscle strength is severely reduced, should not take this medication. This drug contains lactose, so individuals with genetic conditions such as galactose intolerance, lactase deficiency, or glucose-galactose malabsorption should also avoid it. There are patients who require caution when using this medication. Patients with a history of drug hypersensitivity or with liver dysfunction should be careful when using this medication as it may worsen liver function. Various side effects may occur during treatment, so careful monitoring is necessary. Rarely, shock reactions may occur, and if any abnormal symptoms appear, immediate discontinuation of the drug and medical attention should be sought. Liver function tests may show elevated levels, and blood abnormalities such as kidney dysfunction or anemia may also rarely occur, so if symptoms arise, consult a specialist. Additionally, skin reactions such as itching or rash, insomnia, drowsiness, headache, and neurological symptoms such as limb paralysis have also been reported. Gastrointestinal symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, and abdominal pain. The urinary system may also be affected. Systemic symptoms may include weakness, dizziness, and decreased muscle tension, and caution is advised when these symptoms occur. Very rarely, severe allergic reactions such as anaphylaxis or serious skin abnormalities may occur; therefore, if symptoms like fever, skin rash, blisters, eye redness, or stomatitis appear, the medication should be immediately discontinued, and medical attention sought. Caution is recommended to avoid driving or operating dangerous machinery while experiencing drowsiness, lethargy, or decreased concentration during treatment. Also, care should be taken when using this drug in conjunction with similar medications or specific muscle relaxants, as this may lead to control issues. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should use this medication only when the benefits of treatment outweigh the risks, as its safety is not clearly established. Nursing mothers are advised to avoid this medication if possible and, if absolutely necessary, it is preferable to stop breastfeeding. This medication's safety has not been sufficiently confirmed for children, so caution is necessary due to limited usage experience. Elderly patients may have reduced bodily functions, so it is essential to use the medication with caution, such as adjusting the dosage accordingly. Finally, this medication should be stored out of reach of children, and transferring it to another container may alter its quality, so it is safest to keep it in its original packaging.
