Improvement of myocardial ischemia due to hypertension and angina (stable and variant) and reduction of hospitalization risk due to angina and revascularization risk.
This medication is effectively used for myocardial ischemia such as hypertension, stable angina or variant angina due to vasoconstriction. It also helps reduce the risk of hospitalization due to angina in patients with coronary artery disease identified by angiography who do not have heart failure and have a cardiac output of more than 40%. Additionally, it is used to reduce risks associated with coronary revascularization. In other words, this medication plays an important role in managing cardiovascular diseases and improving symptoms of myocardial ischemia.
Adults: Amlodipine 5mg is taken orally once a day; it can be increased to a maximum of 10 mg per day depending on the patient's response. Adjust according to age and symptoms.
This medication should not be used in certain patients. For example, those allergic to this medication or similar types of drugs, nursing women, individuals with severe liver dysfunction, patients with severe aortic stenosis, and those in shock should not take this medication. Additionally, patients with severe hypotension, renal failure requiring dialysis, elderly individuals, and women who are pregnant or could become pregnant should exercise special caution when using this medication. Various side effects may occur while taking this medication. The most common side effects include flushing, fatigue, edema, palpitations, dizziness, headache, drowsiness, abdominal pain, or nausea. Rarely, symptoms such as excessively low blood pressure, vasculitis, neuropathy, erectile dysfunction, gynecomastia, indigestion, weight changes, hair loss, skin rashes, and liver dysfunction may appear. If these symptoms occur, immediate consultation with a doctor is necessary. Patients with heart failure or impaired liver function should be particularly careful when using this medication, monitoring dosage and patient status closely. This medication has a slow onset of action, so it is not suitable for acute cardiac issues. It is known not to significantly affect driving or machinery operation, but it varies by individual, so caution is advised. This medication may interact with several other drugs. Particularly, when taken with grapefruit juice or certain antibiotics and immunosuppressants, the hypotensive effect may be increased or the risk of side effects may be heightened, so be sure to inform your doctor or pharmacist. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should consult with a healthcare professional before taking this medication, and it is recommended to discontinue breastfeeding if taking it. In children, it is recommended for use only in those over 6 years old, as safety and efficacy have not been established in children under 6 years. In cases of overdose, severe hypotension and increased heart rate may occur, requiring urgent treatment. In such cases, immediate visit to a medical institution for appropriate measures is necessary. Regular medical check-ups are important during the use of this medication, and it is crucial to consult a doctor immediately if any abnormal symptoms occur.
