Long-term use of this medication may increase the risk of optic nerve damage due to elevated intraocular pressure or glaucoma, so regular eye pressure checks are necessary. Herpes keratitis or fungal infections may occur, and there is a risk of corneal perforation, so treatment should be initiated immediately if symptoms of infection appear. Prolonged use may increase the risk of cataracts or secondary eye infections, and acute purulent endophthalmitis may worsen, so caution is required. If inflammation or eye pain persists or worsens for more than 48 hours, discontinue use and consult a physician. If wearing contact lenses, remove them before applying the drug and wait at least 30 minutes before reinserting. Temporary blurred vision may occur after administration, so driving or operating dangerous machinery should be avoided. Infection with varicella or measles may lead to severe outcomes, therefore, prior to using this medication, it is essential to confirm the patient's history and vaccination status and minimize the risk of infections. Children and patients on certain medications may have a higher risk of systemic side effects and require caution. When used in conjunction with certain antiviral agents, the risk of systemic side effects may increase; therefore, in such cases, careful use under a doctor's judgment is necessary. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should avoid long-term or frequent use of this medication, and if breastfeeding, should either avoid administration or stop breastfeeding. The safety of this medication in children has not been established, and special caution is necessary for the elderly due to decreased physiological functions. It should only be used for eye administration, and care should be taken to avoid contact between the container tip and the eye; shake well before use.
